Sunyatta

Sunyatta, age 37. Friend of 22 years.
Taken in St. louis, Missouri.

She  writes,

The first time Kevin kissed me was in spring. It was early in the morning and we were standing on the stairs in front of my apartment building. We had spent the last 8 hours together. The iris were blooming all around us. The air was just a little too cold for the shirt I was wearing and our hug lasted longer than a friend's hug lasts. When he pulled my chin towards his and kissed me it felt like I had never been kissed before. We stood there on the steps like that for a very long time.

Dan

Dan, age 42. My husband.
Taken in Amsterdam, Copenhagen (2),  Paris.

He writes,

OUR first kiss. I think our first kiss happened before we knew it. It was our second date, if you could call it that. From the minute I stepped out of the van. You had on your mother's green dress.....wait, that was the third. Our second date.... we went to the beach and sat and talked, watched the sun go down. We went back to the 'knaldhytte' (it's a little hut), and we just laid there for hours talking about life, talking about who and what we were, and I wanted to kiss you so badly all the time, all night, and at one point you just looked at me, we were sitting quite close, and you just pulled me into this kiss of longing and happiness, lust & love. I was breath-taken by it, I had never been kissed like that before. And then we kissed again. And now we are married. You are the love of my life.

the first time we kissed

One of the sweetest moments in life is the first kiss. Not the first time you puckered up and your lips met another (which was most likely your mother and that memory is lost in the ether), but each and every time we meet another along the way and long for communion. Sometimes, sadly, that first kiss was also the last kiss. Or that first kiss was (thankfully) not at all the best kiss that you ended up sharing with that person.

They are the ones that stopped our breath and melted our legs out from underneath us. They are the ones that played out again & again in our minds, even when the rest of the magic had gone out. They are the ones that burned pathways into our memories so deeply that when we think of that person, that first kiss is the first thought to jump into mind.

I have been fortunate to have many memorable first kisses. Some were laughable, some were mediocre, but most were delicious. And I never get tired of telling the stories, and i love listening to others share their stories.

These are the first times we kissed.
